Caregiver Pledge
(all caregivers must agree and
sign this pledge before cats are
spay/neutered)
As a primary feral cat caregiver I will do the following:

  1. Humanely trap and care for feral cats on my property or at a location where
I have obtained permission to conduct such activities.
  2. Provide feral cats with feeding stations that contain adequate food and
water every day.  Provide adequate shelter for all feral cats in the colony.
  3. Attempt to humanely trap and have sterilized/vaccinated, all cats appearing
    at the feeding site.
  4. Monitor the colony on a daily basis.  Make a diligent attempt to humanely
trap any injured or ill cat in order to have a veterinarian provide medical
care or humane euthanasia, if necessary.
  5. Identify and humanely trap kittens who appear social. Such felines should be
removed from the colony, sterilized, vaccinated and placed for adoption with
    an animal humane organization.
  6. Keep detailed records regarding medical services provided for the cats,
kittens born, new additions to the colony, felines placed for adoption,
disappearances, and deaths.  Once yearly, for statistical purposes, send
accurately completed "Feral Cat Colony Logs" to Feral Cat Focus.
  7. Identify alternate caregivers who agree to care for the colony when you
    cannot be present.

I have read, fully understand, and agree to abide by the guidelines for Feral Cat
Colony maintenance which have been established by Feral Cat Focus and detailed
above.  I have received written instructional material regarding the proper long
term maintenance of feral cat colonies.
