| Maddie's Spay/Neuter Project - Feral Cats Working towards the day there are no more homeless pets! Maddie’s Fund, the Pet Rescue Foundation, is a family foundation established to help fund the creation of a no-kill nation where all healthy and treatable shelter dogs and cats are guaranteed a loving home. Dave and Cheryl Duffield created Maddie’s Fund in memory of their beloved Miniature Schnauzer, Maddie (watch Maddie's movie). Maddie passed away in 1997, but thanks to this one little dog, abandoned shelter animals have new opportunities to find loving homes in which they, too, may share in the joy and love that Dave and Cheryl enjoyed with Maddie. The Maddie’s Pet Rescue Project in Erie County is a monumental endeavor by a coalition of animal welfare agencies working to end the euthanasia of healthy and treatable animals. The five-year project began on October 1, 2009. By September of 2014, Erie County will be a community where every healthy or treatable dog or cat is guaranteed a home. Coalition members include: Black Dog, Second Chance Buffalo Humane City of Buffalo Animal Shelter HEART Animal Rescue & Adoption Team Operation PETS Spay Neuter Clinic of WNY Inc. Second Chance Sheltering Network SPCA Serving Erie County (lead agency for project) Ten Lives Club READ MORE ABOUT MADDIE'S PROJECTS IN ERIE COUNTY... www.maddieseriecounty.org www.maddiesfund.org Maddie's Spay/Neuter Project for Feral Cats Part of the funding that Maddie's Fund awarded is to assist with the expense of spaying/neutering feral cats. The Maddie's Spay/Neuter Project is dedicated to ending the feral cat overpopulation crisis in Erie County. Low-cost spay/neuter surgeries are available to Erie County residents who manage feral cat colonies. The Maddie's Spay/Neuter Project is administered by Operation PETS - The Spay/Neuter Clinic of WNY. Nine private practice veterinary hospitals also participate.
